This recipe has been requested more than once, so it was time to put it up on the blog! M started making pho at home once we arrived in Quebec since it’s a little harder to find here than in Vancouver… and he discovered that it’s so simple to make!
I love love love the fragrance of all the spices when they’re first heated in a pot for the broth (would you believe there’s cinnamon, cloves, and star anise?).
The hoisin sauce it’s served with (which I’ve heard described as ‘Chinese ketchup’) is basically mandatory (and available in any grocery store in an Asian section – though you can spice it up with some Sriracha as well.
Finally, you should probably really learn how to pronounce pho.
